Here we have a Gecko 155 (Pro sail) that is going cheap to clear. It was used in Lanzarote a fair amount and so the tip areas have been subject to abrasive surfaces and are quite ropey. Hence the price. If you are someone on a budget but wanting to fly a superb high performance, modern intermediate then this is your chance!
The overall sail is good. If someone wanted to tape up the tips a bit this sail would give lots more grassy-hill use.
Or you could replace the sail for new (as well as do some other bits) and have in effect a new Gecko but at a fraction of the price of a new one.
Other issues it has:
- It needs all new batten flip-tips before flying again.
- One cross tube has a very subtle dent right at the inboard end. In my opinion, I would fly it with this without any worry at all. But if putting a new sail on it, that would be the time to change that one cross tube.
- The rigging wires are tired. Again, I would fly on them but really you ought to replace the lower side wires. Although it is the rest of the wires that present as tired. The upper rear especially (which carries very little load in flight). The glider comes with a home-made set of new lower side wires.
This glider is being sold as seen without any of the above issues sorted because as soon as we sort these issues out, it ceases to be a cheap glider! These issues can be sorted by you for a lot less than if you pay us to sort them. Although that is also an option if you want. It is available to view near Worcester. Come over and I will show you the issues so you can make an informed decision.
